Both experienced umpires are included among the 47 officials enlisted by ITTF to officiate table tennis games

The performance of the duo at the 11th All Africa Games in Brazzaville in 2015 played a major role in their selection.

The longest-serving table tennis umpire in Nigeria, Peters will oversee tennis matches at the Olympics while Arinye, who is the director of sports at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), will officiate the Paralympics.

It would be recalled that Arinye is the first female Nigerian table tennis umpire to officiate in an international competition when she officiated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
