The latest arrest of Olisa Metuh, the spokesperson of the PDP and the arraignment of Haliru Bello, the former national chairman of the party before a court in Abuja has resulted in series of accusations being labeled at the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the opposition party.
Olisa Metuh has been whisked away by officials of the EFCC.
Leadership reports that the minister of information, Lai Mohammed denied that the APC was out to witch hunt the PDP and stressed that the EFCC was working independently.
The minister who spoke after the federal executive council meeting said President Muhammadu Buhari does not direct the EFCC to make arrests nor does the EFCC consult the president.
He said: “I think the first point to make is that this government is not micro-managing any of the anti-graft agencies . I know for a fact that they don’t contact the President or anybody before they do their job. “
“I think the media also has to do more than they are doing right now, they should investigate these allegations and also make their independent judgement about it.
