A former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-
Kayode on Wednesday, January 6 said he
read with amusement various allegations
made public by a Nigerian on-line site,
Sahara Reporters.
On Tuesday, January 5, the US-based news
site had reported that the former minister and
then director, media and publicity of People’s
Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign
Organization (PDP-PCO) was being
investigated over petitions against him the
staff of the organization.
Sahara Reporters said that operatives of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) alleged that Fani-Kayode received
N1.7 billion cash from former president
Goodluck Jonathan and bought Sport Utility
Vehicles (SUV).

But in his statement, the former aviation
minister said: “This is false. A few hours later
they changed their story and said that I
received 1.7 billion naira from the office of
the former NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki. This
is also false.”
Fani-Kayode told Naij.com that although he
is yet to receive an invitation for any kind of
interrogation by the anti-graft agency it is
right for him to clear the air on his
responsibly and actions as the PCO director
of media.
The minister said for the benefit of doubt, he
has never received any money from the
former president, the ex-national security
adviser Sambo Dasuki who is currently under
investigation or being a beneficiary of public
fund – in cash, cheque, transfer or otherwise.
He said that at the time when he served as
the director of media and public for the PCO,
a specific account was opened for the
purpose of the presidential campaign
publicity and likes.
He added that this account was regularly
audited to ensure accountability and
transparency.
