On Monday, January 1, Fuji icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal aka KWAM 1 announced that he will be working with a new publicist Esther Akinwande.
He made this announcement to a YESNAIJA.COM correspondent even as he asked for continued love and support to his band and publicist.

KWAM 1 also touched on plans to release a new album in the coming weeks stating that the production which was done in Nigeria had been completed.
The Fuji legend also explained the reason for his absence from the scene stating that all through the period leading the 2015 general elections he had been busy performing around the world at various tours.
Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde also talked about his former publicist Percy Ademokun with whom he had worked for about 20 years, saying that the need to get a new manager was not as a result of anything personal.
He dismissed speculations of differences between his camp and his former manager Percy, saying that the decision to get a new publicist was a mutual decision from both parties.
The Consolidation crooner said Percy left because he felt it was time to go accomplish other personal goals. He however expressed displeasure in the fact that Percy left without putting someone else to take charge of things in respect to publicity and media relations for the band.
He said: “Percy could have arranged for somebody to take over from him. But the manner in which he left created a vacuum. And I continued to see the vacuum get larger and wider every day and this created a lot of distance between [me, my band and the media].

“[You see], I’d been so used to him handling certain issues for many years. Percy was with the band for almost 20 years, and he tried his best. And I pray that God keeps him wherever he is just as God is keeping the band too.
“You can’t be doing fine and hoping your fellow men don’t do fine.
KWAM 1 also stressed that regardless of Esther being resident in the US, she will be on ground any and every time she is needed for official as$ignments which includes interfacing with the media and members of the public.
He also wished his former publicist all the best in his new endeavours even though they are no longer together as a team.
“But there is the need to have someone in the team that relates with the media on a regular basis and that is why I am introducing my new manager Esther Akinwande. She is based in the US but for this as$ignment Esther will have to crisscross the world as well as Nigeria.

He also talked about plans for the new year adding that a new album has been fully recorded and produced and will be released later in January.
He said: “2016 is going to be a busy year. We shall be involving ourselves in a lot of international concerts. And with all these put together, I needed someone to be in charge and be the link between me and the press, the public, someone who on a daily basis will be monitoring issues so that there will be no vacuum.”
“The new album is a full album this time around, not the short music records. The album is titled Let The Music Flow and it is clearly Fuji music. The plan is to close any vacuum like we had in the past with our new publicist. And I can as$ure you that the old vacuum like we used to have is not going to remain because Esther is going to always be available.
On the issue of Kofoworola Azeez, a student of Business Education department from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, who waas allegedly shot by one of the aides of the popular Fuji musician during his musical show in Ago Iwoye on Sunday, October 11, 2015 he responded saying the Nigerian police didn’t do a good job with handling the matter as should have been handled.
He however stated that he decided not to press charges against the Nigerian police because he didn’t see any gains in doing so.

He said: “I had nothing else to do in Ago Iwoye other than I went there to perform.
“The Nigerian police, I don’t want to castigate them. I don’t want to set myself in a position of conflict with them. That’s why I simmered down at the request of their leadership to please help play the situation down.
“I am not a coward. I am a fighter from all angles when issues not involving myself which are untrue are being pas$ed around.”
KWAM 1 is a renowned Fuji musician in Nigeria. He is respected around the world over.
His new publicist is expected to help handle his media relations and help address pressing issues as they concern his image and that of his band members and overall brand perception.
She is an internationally-accepted PR expert who holds a degree in Media, Culture and Communications from the New York University.
