Abuja Youths Invent Interesting Way To Earn A Living (PHOTOS)


As the unemployment level in Nigeria continues to rise with its rate at 7.1 per cent according to the National Bureau of Statistics, some youths in Abuja have decided to earn a living through beautifully choreographed performances on major roads in the Federal Capital Territory.

Dressed in red, black and yellow customized satin clothes, the trio comprising of young men in their early twenties carry out these activities on roads with heavy vehicular and human traffic within the city.

Leader of the theme, Musa Ali told that the five-year-old group started after they completed their secondary school education in the northern part of Nigeria.

Ali said: “We started like joke after our secondary school education in the north. Instead of just sitting at home doing nothing or join bad gangs or become armed robbers, we started to do this thing. Since five years now, we have been getting some money for our upkeep,” he added.

When asked their source of motivation over the years, another member of the group who simply gave his name as Titus averred that: “Well, our major motivation has been the smiles on the faces of Nigerians. The fact that they appreciate our job is the most important reason why we are still doing this. Some of them usually give us money to appreciate our effort. We make at least seven thousand Naira a day. That is what we use to take care of ourselves.”

The group however advised federal government to urgently address the unemployment situation in Nigeria as it has “led so many youths to embrace vices capable of destroying their future, Titus added.
