Five Men Charged For Impregnating 13-Year-Old

Five men have been charged to court
following accusations that they defiled a 13-
year-old girl and got her impregnated.
The five men namely: Amadu Mairake, 60,
Samaila Hamza, 30, Hassan Surajo, 40, Sani
Abdullahi, 30, and 40-year-old Hassan Ila
were on Tuesday, October 12, arraigned
before a Senior Magistrates Court sitting in
Katsina state, on one-count charge of rape.

Daily Post reports that the suspects, who
reside at Borin-Dawa village in Malumfashi
local government of the state, were arraigned
on a one-count charge of rape.
Police reports states that on Wednesday,
September 2, at about 9.00am, one Abdul-
Malik Nuhu reported at Malumfashi police
station that his 13-year-old daughter had
been impregnated by the five suspects.
According to the police First Information
Report (FIR), the offence contravenes section
283 of the penal code.
The police prosecutor, Hashimu Musa, told
the court during the hearing, that the police
were still investigating the matter.
Hajiya Nafisah Bagiwa, the Judge, however,
did not take the plea of the accused persons,
saying the court has no jurisdiction to do so.
Bagiwa said the suspects were arraigned
before the court for the purpose of
cognizance only.
The Judge adjourned the case till October 28,
advising that the police continues with their
investigation.

She added that the case file should be
transferred to the Ministry of Justice for
advice.
In another development, a commercial
motorcyclist has been arrested and charged
in Lagos state for impregnating a 14-year-old
girl.
The accused, Monday Magbade, has been
arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’
Court.
Magbade allegedly committed the offence
between June and July at his residence,
where he was a co-tenant of the girl’s parents.
