Information coming from the Nigerian Army of Division 1 Headquarters has made it known that all the arms and ammunition discovered by the military from the Shiite members in Zaria are now in the custody of the Nigeria police.

The discovery of the arms and ammunition was made known by Colonel Usman Abdul who holds the position of the deputy director Army Public relations. In a press statement the Colonel issued, he said:
“We wish to state categorically that all the ammunitions/weapons and other dangerous weapons displayed were recovered from armed bandits, criminals and cattle rustlers that have been terrorizing innocent civil populace within the North West Zone and not from the members of the Shiite sect as reported.

“The issue of the clash between the Nigerian Army troops and members of the Shiite sect was not the main issue of the briefing but was only mentioned to reiterate the position of the Nigerian Army on the matter. All sort of weapons recovered specifically from the Shiite sect have been handed over the Police authority few days after the incident.”
The military also advised the general public that it had no hand in the error caused regarding the photograph of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division displayed during the press briefing in Kaduna state on Wednesday, January 6.
It should be recalled that on Thursday, December 24, 2015, the Shiite group brought allegations against the Nigerian army that it was using all methods to prevent the group members from talking regarding the killings of Shiites in Zaria, Kaduna state.
